Over 15 million Indonesian youth have experienced mental health challenges, and 1 in every 7 young people in Thailand struggles with depression or anxiety. But with limited reliable resources and plenty of misinformation online, finding trustworthy mental health support can be tough. That's why TikTok has launched Mindful Makers, a community of dynamic creators who specialize in lifestyle and educational content. Teaming up with local experts, NGOs, and governments, these creators are here to share trusted, evidence-based mental health content designed especially for young people—helping to break down stigma and fight misinformation. The Mindful Makers program has brought together dynamic creators from Indonesia and Thailand, empowering them to address critical mental health challenges through engaging, evidence-based TikTok content. Throughout the program, creators have participated in immersive masterclasses, collaborated closely with local NGOs to co-create impactful campaigns, and learned to leverage TikTok features. Their content has tackled pressing issues such as stigma that prevents youth from seeking help, widespread misinformation, and knowledge gaps about mental health.
By exploring the unique cultural contexts of Indonesia and Thailand, creators selected specific challenges that deeply resonate with young people—ranging from stigma and misinformation to recognizing mental health conditions. Guided by mental health experts and NGO partners, the creators have crafted authentic and informative stories designed to inspire action, build trust, and encourage open conversations among millions of youth across the region.
